The Experimental Surgery Lab is a research group of the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences of Ghent University (Belgium), located on the Ghent University Hospital campus, in building The Core. Our research group conducts clinical, translational and experimental studies and focusses on 2 fields of research:

 

In the field of Gastro-Intestinal Surgery, research is focused on the etiology and treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis, intraperitoneal drug delivery, recovery of gastro-intestinal motility after surgery and biophysical properties of tumours.

In the field of Cardiac Surgery, research is dedicated to cardiocirculatory physiology and its therapeutic implications, and currently focused on tricuspid regurgitation. There is a close collaboration between cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, cardiologists & anesthesiologists.
